Consultative Workshop with Women RBO

Ethiopia conducted a consultative workshop with women right based organization on May 05-06, 2022. In the workshop reproductive rights, family planning and its benefits, unwanted pregnancy, unsafe abortion, and maternal mortality, the role of women groups and women organizations in advocating reproductive health rights, and other topics were discussed.

The workshop was participatory and involved group discussion and reflections. As reflected by the participants after the “why did she die exercise” all parties are responsible for creating awareness about reproductive health rights and building women’s and girls’ confidence and self-esteem to protect women and girls from the complications of unwanted pregnancy and unsafe abortion.

The participants also mentioned that there is stigma and fear among the communities due to different cultural influences that lead women and girls to a bad or uninformed decisions.

Lastly, all the parties agreed to contribute their part and work in collaboration to solve the complicated and connected problems of women’s sexual reproductive health.
