Ipas Ethiopia, in collaboration with the Make Way Consortium, hosted a pivotal workshop with members of the media, titled “Media Engagement on Improving Youth-Friendly SRH Information and Service for Youth with Compounded Vulnerabilities” in Addis Ababa. The event marked a significant stride towards enhancing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services for marginalized youth in Ethiopia.

The workshop convened media outlets and program representatives, emphasizing the critical role of collaboration in advocating for improved SRH services tailored to the needs of vulnerable young people. Key stakeholders discussed strategies to bolster media involvement in SRH advocacy, ensuring accurate and comprehensive information dissemination among youth populations facing compounded vulnerabilities.

Central to the discussions were recent research findings highlighting the obstacles encountered by young individuals with compounded vulnerabilities in accessing essential SRH information and services. Participants underscored the necessity of a coordinated approach between the Make Way program and media partners to address these challenges effectively.

The workshop culminated in a consensus on actionable steps to fortify the partnership between the Make Way consortium and media outlets. This collaboration aims to amplify advocacy efforts and foster a more impactful dissemination of youth-friendly SRH information across Ethiopia. Representatives of different radio, television and newspaper outlets attended the one day workshop.
