Increasing access to self-managed abortion through pharmacies: Programmatic results and lessons from pilot testing in Oromiya, Ethiopia

Maternal mortality from unsafe abortions has significantly decreased in Ethiopia since the reform of the abortion law in 2005 (CITE), due in large part to the development of national safe abortion guidelines, integration of comprehensive abortion care (CAC) in public health facilities, training of mid-level providers in abortion care, and the expansion of medication abortion (MA).
